Apple surprised iPhone users with a next-day iOS 14 release. App developers are pissed.

Apple fans who were waiting for an iPhone 12 unveiling at the Apple Event today may be a little disappointed. But, Apple gave them a treat to hold them over instead: an announcement that iOS 14 is being released tomorrow.

Surprise! Sounds great! Unless, that is, you are an iPhone app developer. They’re pretty pissed.

I get how whiny this sounds, but I think this is the most negative I’ve felt after an Apple event.

I don’t push myself that hard, but I did do a lot of work to prepare to hit the “day one” release for iOS 14 with hopes of a reward in the shape of making some lists or something
